Labour market inclusion of people with disabilities in Oman

The UN estimates that 650 million people across the world have some kind of disability; 470 million of them are of working age. Especially in developing countries, people with disabilities are being excluded from many activities in daily life and the world of work, with serious consequences for them and their families.
In order to support partner countries’ efforts to build more inclusive employment policies, the Employment and Skills Development Programme held a one-week course in Oman in March 2010 on the labour market inclusion of people with disabilities.
It was attended by senior policy and planning staff from the Ministry of Labour and the Ministry of Social Affairs, by staff of bodies dealing with disability inclusion, active labour market policies and vocational training, and by representatives of worker and employer organizations dealing with disability issues.
